You notice how a lot of AI art generators excel at broad sweeping art of landscapes, outer space scenes, etc., but can't render a person without getting all uncanny valley? It makes me think a lot about Isaac Asimov's idea of psychohistory being great at predicting the actions of the masses, but unable to understand those of individuals.


Just as two examples, here are two prompts I recently did using Midjourney. One was to make a space station orbiting an ocean world and the other was for a portrait of the admiral in charge of said station.

@srol This admiral looks STRANGE but I think you could absolutely clean this up without throwing out too many details. Like the uneven eyes could be an anatomical quirk that influences their depth perception?

@Ferrovore I went through like five different admirals before I got one whose facial features were quarantined onto their face.
